How to specify designer stainless steel sheets in a BOQ
A clear specification gets you comparable quotes and the right sheet on site. Name the grade, thickness, finish, colour, design, coating, size and processing.
What to write for each sheet
- Grade: SS 304 or SS 202.
- Thickness: in mm, between 0.8 and 2.0 mm.
- Finish: mirror, hairline, No.4 matte, bead blast, etched or embossed.
- Colour: natural silver, or PVD gold, rose gold, champagne gold or bronze.
- Design: for etched or embossed sheets, the design name or code.
- Coating: anti-fingerprint (AFP) if needed.
- Sheet size: standard 1220 × 2440 mm, or the size you need.
- Protective film: ask for it to stay on until installation is finished.
- Processing: cutting, bending or grooving, with drawings.
- Sheet code: the SMN code (for example SMN-GM-01) removes any doubt.
An example line
SS 304, 1.2 mm, PVD gold mirror (SMN-GM-01), 1220 × 2440 mm, with protective film, 20 sheets.
Approve samples first
Screens and printouts change colour. Approve a physical sample for every finish and colour, keep it on site, and check the delivered sheets against it.
Send us your list
Send the BOQ or drawings with quantities and the city. We check the specification, suggest alternatives where they help and send samples to approve.
Next step
See the real surface before you specify
Screens change colour and texture. Ask for physical samples of the finishes you are considering, or tell us about your project.
